It is not often Charlie Haughey is honoured these days but he was last week when a number of Fianna Fail cummain from the Kinsealy area organised a small function in Portmarnock Golf and Country Club. Quidnunc's sources say the occasion came about because some of the younger members wanted to meet him. A couple of dozen were expected for tea and sandwiches but about 100 turned up, among them local deputy G.V. Wright and Senator Jim Glennon, who is due to get the other FF nomination for Dublin North. It was all very informal, Quidnunc hears. The former taoiseach said a few words and was very touched by the whole occasion. He was presented with a couple of bottles of Chateau Lynch Bages.
