Road Desk: Routes to avoid this week
Still caught up in World Cup fever, the nation's roads will reflect the kick-off times as we finish out our first round matches today and next Tuesday. Elsewhere Carlos Santana and UB40 play Marlay Park, Dublin, on Friday evening. Gates open at 5 p.m. so normal Friday rush hour traffic in the area will also have to contend with concert-goers.
Local traffic restrictions will apply and delays are likely . Free parking is available on site for 3,000 cars. Entry is from the College Road entrance. Parking is prohibited in local estates.
DUBLIN: Roadworks daily on Ballymahon Road at Thorn Hill from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for six-week period from yesterday. Delays likely, being a busy route between the Enniskerry/Stepaside Road and Old Conna leading into Bray.
Roadworks daily on Ballyogan Road, Stepaside, near Leopardstown Valley from 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. until next Tuesday; stop-go system in place. Works may move along road during six-week period.
Vico Road, Dalkey, closed to all HGVs (over 5 tonnes gross weight) until further notice, due to a wall in danger of collapse.
Upper Churchtown Road between Taney Cross and Old Churchtown Road closes weekdays from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. from next Monday to Friday June 14th, from June 17th to 21st, June 24th to 28th, and July 1st to 5th. Also at weekends from 8 p.m. Saturdays to 6 a.m. Mondays June 15th to 17th, 22nd to 24th and June 29th to July 1st.
From July 6th to September 2nd entire junction of Taney Cross closes at weekends.
GALWAY: Closures for roadworks at Knocknacarragh Cross/Barna Road until about mid-June.
CORK: Road at Ballynoe by entrance to Rushbrook Links housing development closed until Friday June 14th for new road junction. Diversions in place.
WICKLOW: Sally Gap Road closed from Kippure Bridge to Sally Gap for roadworks from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. until next Saturday. Diversions in operation via the N81, Hollywood (R756) and Laragh (R115).
Protests in Enniskerry at morning and evening peak times until about end of June. Some to be announced in advance.
