Lagan Developments is expected to receive planning permission this month for its £20 million sterling mixed residential, office and leisure development at Pottinger Quay, one of the last riverside sites in Belfast's city centre area. The Pottinger site is on the old tramworks at Short Strand opposite the Waterfront Hall and beside Dunloe Ewart's flagship development site.

Lagan has applied to develop 48,000 sq ft of duplex accommodation, offices, retail and a 10,000 sq ft apart-hotel. The pre-development work has included negotiations with the local residents, who have indicated their support for the scheme.

The office and residential elements all look westwards over the river. The 46 apartments will include 30 two-beds, 12 one-beds and four penthouses. The apartments will have balconies and the penthouses have terraces with external decking to accommodate hot tubs or roof gardens.

Dunloe has also outlined its plans for a £10 million leisure complex on the final available site at Lanyon Quay. Work is due to begin later this year with completion expected before the end of 2002.

The Dunloe development consists of 80,000 sq ft of restaurants, bars, retail, leisure areas and a gymnasium.

The company has retained agents Colliers CRE to advise on sale or letting of the development, in which units from 1,600 sq ft to 27,550 sq ft are available.

The development site has river frontage beside the Waterfront Hall and Belfast's Hilton Hotel.
