Industrial cool

Industrial Things (01-2334600 industrialthings.com) is a new venture for estate agent Simon Stokes of Stokes Property and his wife, Sarah. They've shopped for one-off industrial pieces in Germany, Holland, Belgium and in former Eastern Bloc countries, sourcing metal cabinetry, filing cabinets, cinema seats and old enamel advertising signs. For seven days from today they're offering Irish Times readers who present today's column 10 per cent off all items. This German Kaffee Hag sign (Above), 62cm by 57cm, in rusted original condition, normally €150, is reduced to €135. Newly opened Ode Design (086-6772859), 15 Market Square, Navan, Co Meath, is run by interior designer Stephen Carroll. Offering a mix of Scandinavian design and mid-century vintage furniture, he is celebrating the launch by giving Irish Times readers who present today’s column 10 per cent off their Amanda bone china range by Superliving. Worth a look

This dark stained oak Gemini table, 76cm by 200cm by 100cm, bench, 45cm by 200cm by 40cm, and three chairs, is almost half price at Arnotts (01-8050400 arnotts.ie), Henry Street, Dublin 2, reduced by 48 per cent from €2,299 to €1,199. The matching sideboard, 82.5cm by 150 cm by 48cm, is down 46 per cent from €1,299 to €699. Get a grip

For a hipper take on the genre buy the work of talented illustratorAlicia Galer who produces beautiful expressive botanical illustrations, and minimalist prints of exotic cacti and plant life. Holly Somerville (087-6374720 hollysomerville.com) is an Irish botanist turned illustrator. Agapanthus africanus is a limited edition giclée print, 28cm by 23cm approx, on archival paper that can be purchased from her website mounted and unframed for €140. She is also available for commission work. Her courgette flowers are gorgeous.

Summer sale prices

The mug and the espresso cup and saucer set are half price, down to €5 and €4.50; the cup and saucer set is reduced by 30 per cent from €11.50 to €8.05.
