Permission is being sought by Deerland Construction Ltd for a 1350 million urban renewal scheme in Wexford town centre, which will involve infilling a portion of the harbour.
The project, Trinity Wharf, will be a mixed-use town centre development on a large quayside brownfield site at Wexford Harbour near the Talbot Hotel in Trinity Street. Deerland Construction Ltd is applying for a 10-year planning permission for the retail, residential, commercial and leisure scheme which, if Wexford Borough Council give it the go-ahead, will span over 17 acres, including a harbour area of 5.9 acres. Designed by Anthony Reddy & Associates, it will comprise eight blocks ranging from two to 14 storeys. One of the buildings will comprise five-storeys of offices over a two-storey shopping mall. As well as anchor stores, it would have 50 shops, a food court, crèche, a six-screen multiplex, a community hall and a three-level multi-storey car-park with 1,844 car-parking spaces. A key feature of the site is that it is bounded on three sides by Wexford Harbour. The design includes a waterfront urban quarter in Wexford with a 282-bed hotel together with six new apartment buildings accommodating 266 units with views of Wexford Harbour and town. One of the six residential blocks will be a 14-storey tower with a ground floor waterfront bar.
