The former seminary and agricultural college at Ballinafad House, Belcarra, Castlebar, Co Mayo, has come on the market through Co Monaghan estate agent Shane O'Hanlon and Dublin agent BFR Estates. The joint agents are quoting a guideline price of £2.5 million for the 60,000 sq ft buildings and 400 acres. Alternatively, a price of around £500,000 is being sought for the buildings on eight acres. O'Hanlon said the property had considerable potential as a country club, conference centre or hotel because of its location 11 miles from Castlebar and 20 miles from Knock Airport. The Georgian house was given to the SMA Fathers by Llewellyn Court Blake for use as a seminary for missionary priests.
