Disconnected youthChina is launching an experimental summer camp for 40 youngsters to wean them off their internet addiction. The 10-day programme would accept youngsters aged 14-22 once they had undergone a psychological test and evaluation, the China Dailyreported.

About 2.6 million, or 13 per cent, of China's 20 million internet users under 18 are classed as addicts, state media have reported. The youngsters at summer camp would be treated for depression, fear, unwillingness to interact, panic and agitation.

Survival skills

Live like a caveman this weekend with a course in Bushcraft and Primitive living skills in the Wicklow hills. The course, taught by survival specialist Anthonio Akkermans, will teach participants friction fire-lighting, tracking, trapping and shelter building. Akkermans will also show how to make survival items such as bowls and spoons. The event, costing €145, is open to those of 15 years and over, or 12-14 with a parent. Info at www.dulra.org/
