Mothercare Ireland reassures customers, to open bigger Galway store

Irish operation says none of its 14 stores are affected by cost-cutting plans in the UK

Mothercare Ireland has once again moved to reassure Irish consumers that it is a seperate entity to the UK business, which on Thursday reported sales data for its fourth quarter.

The Irish operation, which has been in business for 26-years, stressed that none of its 14 stores are affected by cost-cutting plans announced by the British company.

Mothercare Ireland added that it is to relocate from its 2,500 sq ft store in Eyre Square in Galway city to a new 6,000 sq ft premises in Well Park Retail Park.

The UK business, which has been losing money for more than a decade announced plans in July to close over a third of its stores.
