What are the obstacles to moving back to Ireland for good?

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) recently reported on the number of immigrants that entered the Republic of Ireland between April, 2022 and April, 2023. Among the figures was the fact that 29,600 were returning Irish citizens – previous emigrants who made the big decision to come back to Ireland.

We would like to hear from those who have lived abroad and recently returned to live in Ireland. Or Irish people who are seriously considering moving back.

The big question is: Why?

What are the reasons and motivations behind the move home?

What are the pros and cons, what challenges needed to be overcome, and what do you think the future holds for you and your family?

Some of the submissions may be published, and/or a reporter may be in contact for more information.

Thank you.
