COLLEGE ROUND-UP: Just as the colleges' championship was about to enter its most interesting phase, it's the wintry weather that is playing the biggest role. Three of the four quarter-finals of the Leinster senior football are due to be played out this week, weather permitting.

There is one second round game still to be decided. Called off last week was the meeting between Patrician, Newbridge, and St Mark's, Tallaght, and that's been refixed for tomorrow afternoon in Newbridge.

The winners there will then be at home to St Peter's, Wexford, who easily defeated Trim CS in the second round. Holders and All-Ireland champions St Patrick's, Navan, will travel to Mullingar CBS tomorrow at 2.0 p.m.

In Connacht, both preliminary games in the senior football scheduled for Sunday and yesterday were called off. St Gerald's are to play Ballyhaunis for the right to meet St Colman's in the quarter-final, while St Patrick's face Headford, with the winners going through to meet St Jarlath's. The other two quarter-finals has St Nathy's meeting Carrick-on-Shannon and St Mary's meeting St Muredach's, both down for Saturday.
