DR HARTY CUP QUARTER-FINALS/Thurles CBS 0-17 St Flannan's 2-10:THURLES CBS, All-Ireland champions last year, won a titanic battle against arch-rivals St Flannan's at Claughaun.

The losers will regret hitting 15 wides during the hour, four of them from scoreable frees. It was all square at 1-6 to 0-9 at the interval with St Flannan’s netting after 12 minutes via Niall Arthur.

A second long-range point by Denis Maher, a further one by Devine from a handpass from John Bergin and another marvellous point from way out on the left by O’Brien had the champions three points in front early in the second half.

Shane O’Connor cracked in a Flannan’s goal six minutes into the second half but from then to the finish Thurles picked off a succession of points to edge home.
