Goalkeeper Chris Kirkland, who has been on loan at Wigan Athletic since July, has completed a permanent transfer from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee.
Kirkland, 25, who started his career at Coventry City before a £6million move to Liverpool in 2001, has also played for West Bromwich Albion on loan.
He made his full international debut in England's 4-0 win over Greece in August and has played in all eight of Wigan's Premier League matches this season, establishing himself as the club's first-choice keeper.
"Chris is a world-class keeper and a smashing pro," Wigan manager Paul Jewell told the club website. "It was always our intention to make the deal permanent."
