There was no shortage of drama in the Munster section of the Pierce Purcell Shield at Beaufort, Co Kerry last week with two matches being decided on the 20th. Killarney advanced at the expense of Ardfert when John Wall and Denis O'Donoghue gained a tie-hole win over Mike Leahy and Tom Griffin, while Castlegregory can thank Tom Egan and John Conway after they also won at the second tie hole against Kieran Cleary and Tom Brophy of Ceann Sibeal. Other qualifiers were Newcastle West who beat Killorglin 3-2 and Kenmare, 4-1 winners over the host club, Beaufort.
