This remaining second round tie saw St Michael's triumph at Donnybrook yesterday with crucial misses inevitably leading to Belvedere's downfall.

They managed only one kick out a possible five and that came at the end when Eamon Fitzgerald landed a difficult conversion from a Cliff Murphy try.

Belvedere had begun promisingly but St Michael's opened the scoring with a Stephen McGrath penalty on 23 minutes.

The centre then took a pass from George Byron to go over for a try just before the interval and he stretched the lead on 45 minutes with another kick from in front of the posts.
