KARIM HARBOTT of Britain knocked out his compatriot and top seed Daniel Kiernan 6-3 5-7 6-1 in the quarter-finals of the Lifestyle Under-18 tennis tournament at Riverview yesterday.

There was definite Irish interest at the bottom of the draw, where John Doran and Joe Green got through to meet in major competition for the third time in a month. The head-to-head between the top Irish prospects, who leave for scholarships at Harvard University next month, is: 1-1.

Green won in the Irish Open, while Doran avenged that defeat in the first week of the ITF series last week.

Another Irish winner was Nick Malone, who faces Australian Chris Haid today.
