Today's action at Limerick is more a question of quantity rather than quality, but a winner is a winner, and in the 10furlong handicap the Donal Hassett-trained Granuale is taken to follow up an impressive Tipperary win last time.

Another local trainer, John Brassil, has booked Jason Titley for the opening handicap hurdle and their charge, Magi- cal Way, should go close, while the divisions of the maiden hurdle can fall to Dons Delight and Tuska Ridge respectively.

Willie Mullins' bumper record is second to none and his Native Marsh will be hard to beat in the last.

Meanwhile, owner Joe Crowley's appeal against the decision of the Cork stewards to leave the placings unaltered after the Bank of Ireland Handicap Chase last month has been turned down at the Turf Club. The circumstances surrounding the bypassing of the last fence in that race, where Crowley's horse Oakler finished second, were also examined. The appeals committee decided that the clerk of the course has ultimate responsibility for insuring that procedures for the bypassing of fences are properly implemented.

The clerk, John Harvey, was found negligent in not adequately instructing the fence attendants as to their duties and in not informing the jockeys as to the instructions to be followed if any fence had to be bypassed.

Arising out of that, Harvey was referred to the stewards of the Turf Club.
