THE second rounds of the DHL Formula Opel and Ford of Ireland Zetec championships are billed for the County Kildare Motor Club's Mondello meeting tomorrow. Formula Vee is also featured, this being the most popular of all classes in Irish motor racing, offering maximum value at minimal cost.

Padraic Owens of Navan was back in scintillating form at Mondello on Easter Monday, winning both `A' and `B' races at the wheel of his Kildare-built Leastone LH002, and leads the National Championship. Another Leastone driver, Dermot Doherty, leads the `C' Championship: and John Mahon in his Wicklow-built Sheane 97 leads the `B' Champipnship.

Two rounds of the British Rallycross Championship will see a quality field at Nutt's Corner, Co Antrim on April 26th and the next day at Mondello Park. The Irish challenge will be spearheaded by Dermot Carnegie and John Moloney in Ford Escort RS Cosworths, with a gaggle of Metro 6R4's in the capable hands of Denis Biggerstaff, Norman Kittle, Lawrence Gibson and Peter Faulkner. The series is led by Will Gollop, driving a Peugeot 306.

There is no news as yet regarding a sponsor or sponsors for the European Rallycross Championship round scheduled for Mondello Park on June 2lst/ 22nd.

Tomorrow's Circuit of Kerry is round two of the Coras National, Rally Championship, led by John Gilleece on 20 points from Charlie Donnelly (18), Ray Breen (16) and Joe McHugh (14).

After Galway and the AA Circuit of Ireland, Round Three of the Tarmac Rally Championship is the Killarney and District Motor Club's Gleneagle Hotel Rally of the Lakes on the holiday weekend of May 4th/5th. This year the Gleneagle Hotel celebrates 40 years in business, and the event is run under the Gleneagle banner, in association with Carling in a strong supporting role

The event will start from the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney at 9.20 a.m. on the Saturday, followed by stages at Moll's Gap, Fuhiry and Mullaghanish, with the first service halt in Millstreet.

Stages at Caherbarnagh and Gortnegage complete the first loop back to the main service at Glenflesk. A further run, over Fuhiry, Mullaghanish, Caherbarnagh and Gortnagage, will bring the first day's competition to a close.

On the Sunday it's back to Moll's Gap at 9.00 a.m., followed by stages at Beallaghbeama, Caragh Lake, Rockfield and Dunlop. Service will be on a section of closed road near Killorglin, with the cars returning there after each loop of stages.
