Manchester City fans booed their team off the pitch and staged an angry protest at Maine Road after their side failed to score for the third successive game as they crashed 1-0 to Stoke in the English first division.

But while City manager Frank Clark and chairman Francis Lee are facing a crisis as their side languish in the bottom four, the men from the Potteries moved into the top six thanks to a goal from Ray Wallace.

The winner came from Stoke's first corner in the 63rd minute after Kevin Keen's cross was weakly headed out by Eddie McGoldrick straight to Wallace, who curled the ball into the bottom corner.

Two goals in 90 seconds helped Wolves clinch a 2-1 win over Tranmere at Molineux.
