This is the first time in a long while that there is a real feeling of confidence in Munster rugby. And of course they deserve it. I certainly didn't think they were going to beat Toulouse but it was a great match and they played absolutely marvellous.
That was definitely going to be their hardest match but they showed tremendous spirit that day. Now they're almost in the unfortunate position of being favourites. That's often the time when you end up getting clobbered but it will be very disappointing now if they don't win.
They play so well together as a team that they are very difficult to beat. Unlike a lot of clubs in France and England, they've been split up a lot this year but they've managed to keep that wonderful spirit intact. Of course they do have some outstanding players as well, which obviously helps.
I was at the game in Limerick when they beat Stade Francais and that was a case of almost winning too easily. For me I thought the most exciting by far was the game against Saracens which they won in the last minute of injury-time. That showed incredible determination.
But for sheer quality you can't beat the Toulouse match. There's no doubt that they are among the very best clubs in Europe at the moment, with a whole host of internationals from both France and beyond. It was an exceptional win under very unfavourable conditions.
Like everyone, I've been eagerly looking forward to this final. Unfortunately I can't travel but I certainly fancy their chances and as soon as they beat Toulouse I was out to have a bet on them.
