ANY PORT and Timely Affair both casualties in the Low Low Galway Blazers Handicap Chase at the Galway Festival last month renew rivalry in the Howandale Services Rossbracken Handicap Chase at Dundalk this afternoon and Any Port is taken to come out best.
Tony Martin's mare started second favourite for that event on the strength of an impressive four-length win from Swallows Nest at Down Royal. Any Port, a daughter of Strong Gale, should regain the winning thread here at the expense of Wacko Jacko, who was beaten half a length by Jazzy Refrain at the recent Tralee Festival.
The Cooley Handicap may go to Tiboulen, who was successful in this race last year. Certainly, her two-length second to Niyampour would give her a first-rate chance. One of today's rivals, Mascot (now 4lb better off), finished nine and a half lengths back in fourth on that occasion and will be hard-pressed to reverse placings.
Another course specialist, Ardlea House, may be worth supporting in the Knockbridge Handicap (1m 1f). The seven-year-old got up in the dying strides to beat Notluckytochange by a head over an extended seven furlongs at this track last month and should not be inconvenienced by the extra distance.
