Irish Logistics Transport Awards

Industry professionals will gather from all over the country for the big night on April 12th

It’s hard to believe that when The Irish Logistics & Transport Awards returns on Thursday April 12th, it will be its ninth instalment.

With past winners such as Kuehne + Nagel, DHL Global Forwarding and syncreon Ireland, those shortlisted this year will be hoping to join a prestigious list when they gather in the Citywest Hotel, Dublin to toast 12 months of hard work.

Judging coordinator and Irish International Freight Association Executive Officer, Seamus Kavanagh, is fully aware of how important the sector is in keeping Ireland moving, and he is very impressed with the standard of this year’s entries:

“From 40" containers of pharmaceuticals, to a tray full of loaves of bread, the work of Freight Forwarders and Logisticians in keeping supply chains connected is finding greater recognition among business and the media today. The 2018 Irish Logistics and Transportation Awards represents a solid insight into the hard work of this vital industry.”

Likewise, Head of Transport & Logistics at AIB Business Banking, Robert Quill, is delighted that AIB are returning as a sponsor of the awards; “It’s excellent to yet again to see a really high calibre of finalists from across the transport and logistics sector. AIB wishes all of the finalists the best of luck.”

DAF are also one of the event sponsors on the night, with Conal McCourt, Operations Director DAF Ireland, saying “As one of the world’s leading truck manufacturers, DAF is thrilled to sponsor the Irish Logistics and Transport awards and help celebrate those achieving great things within the sector. The awards are one of the Irish transport industry’s most prestigious celebrations and we would like to congratulate all the shortlisted finalists and wish them the very best of luck. We look forward to meeting them all at the Citywest Hotel in April.”

Among the shortlisted companies is BWG, which has been nominated in no fewer than seven different categories. Logistics Director, Joanne Mellon, said “BWG is delighted to have been shortlisted for the prestigious Irish Logistics and Transport Awards as they recognise our clear commitment to delivering a world class supply chain through continued investment and innovation.”

DPD Ireland is nominated for Courier Company of the Year, Employer of the Year and for the Innovation in Technology Systems Award, and Des Travers, CEO for DPD Ireland, is excited about the night:

“DPD Ireland has been at the forefront of technology for several years now. Real time data flows have been in place within the business since 2005 but e-commerce and the changing profile of the parcel recipient is what truly drove innovation within the organization #YourDeliveryExperts. We are already looking forward to what promises to be a great night in Citywest.”
