SPEEDING AND PENALTY POINTS

Madam, - I overheard a rather strange conversation recently. A number of gentlemen were cursing the new penalty points system. One man in particular was not looking forward to the countless fines and points he will receive. He openly admitted that he was a regular law-breaker and saw no problem with doing "fifty in a forty zone" or "ninety on the motorway".

He further suggested that the police should stop wasting his and their time stopping him for speeding as it was not a real crime.

I would like to say to everybody who shares this same attitude that speed kills. It would be easier to just obey the law and spare the countless lives lost on our roads every year. That life might just be your own. - Yours, etc.,
