NI deadlock

Sir, – This reminds me of the longest papal consistory, which lasted from 1268 until 1271 due to infighting between the cardinals. The local magistrates reduced the electors’ rations to bread and water and took the roof off the palace. A pope was soon elected! Maybe something similar should be tried at Stormont, where they are still being paid, and presumably fed, handsomely. – Yours, etc,
