Charlie Smyth scored the longest kick of his NFL career as the New Orleans Saints beat the Tennessee Titans 34-26, scoring from 57 yards.
It came after Smyth had scored from 56 yards earlier in the game. Smyth missed another kick, but made a big impact on his team’s victory as they secured their fourth win in a row in the league.
Charlie Smyth’s participation had been listed as “questionable” before the game by his team after his practice time was curtailed because of illness.
Last week, Smyth was elevated to the New Orleans Saints 53-man roster and signed a new three-year contract.

Smyth is having a season to remember after his regular debut against the Miami Dolphins a month ago, he announced himself Stateside by drilling over a 56-yard field goal. He also had an onside kick recovered late in that game, with recoveries averaging only 5 per cent for the last three NFL seasons.
Smyth also took centre stage two weeks ago by kicking the winning score for the Saints with just two seconds remaining against the Carolina Panthers. Last weekend Smyth celebrated his new three-year contract as he kicked 17 points in his side’s 29-6 win over the New York Jets.
