Hotels, housing and direct provision

Sir, – On one side of Ireland we are rightly pushing to have homeless families moved from emergency accommodation in hotels. On the other side at the same time we feel it is acceptable to refurbish hotels to accommodate families of asylum seekers in the direct provision system where they can remain for prolonged periods. Is the irony not obvious? – Yours, etc,

Dr BARRY COSGROVE,

Boyle,

Co Roscommon.
