Sir, – Further to your editorial "Diversion of funds from mental health services a shortsighted ploy" (April 21st), and its quoting of Oscar Wilde that a "cynic is a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing", another Wilde quote comes to mind, "Consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative". This uninspiring policy of depriving underfunded mental health services of much-needed financial resources will not surprise anyone involved in mental healthcare.
I’m also sure that both Wilde and Fr Ted would have been proud of your balanced editorial euphemism – “diversion of funds”. – Yours, etc,
