Education and consent

Sir, – Carl O’Brien’s article rightly highlights the need for safer and more respectful campuses (“Consent on campus: UCC says it is building zero tolerance to sexual harassment”, Analysis, March 19th).

This is undoubtedly true but why should this initiative be restricted to third level? I firmly believe that secondary schools should provide such courses. I would suggest particularly in all-male schools. Respect for people’s dignity is paramount in society. – Yours, etc,
