Sir, – Having seen the wonderful photograph on the front of today’s newspaper (February 9th) of a mud-spattered jockey and horse at Navan parade ring, I was struck by the contrast. The jockey’s eyes had been protected by his goggles during the race.

Apparently not so for the poor horse, whose performance might have been hindered somewhat by the lack of eye protection. Maybe some clever person out there might come up with a solution. – Yours, etc,
