A woman has been seriously injured in what police described as a vicious attack in Co Antrim.

A woman has been seriously injured in what police described as a vicious attack in Co Antrim.

The woman received five lacerations about the head and face after a man attacked her in a car park near Portrush.

The man confronted her in Dunluce carpark as she was making her way home in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The man is understood to have threatened to kill the woman before slashing her with a sharp object.

Police are appealing to anyone who might have seen anything suspicious to contact them at Coleraine.
