Kilmacud Crokes 1-13 Newtown Blues 1-09: Mark Vaughan again rode to the rescue of Kilmacud Crokes with a 55th minute goal against Louth champions Newtown Blues.

Vaughan contributed 1-08 of his team's total but the goal was by far the most important contribution, coming just seconds after Hugh McGinn, who was outstanding, had kicked his fifth point to give the Blues the lead for the first time in the match.

That revival from the Louth champions - who had trailed 0-9 to 0-3 at half-time and who found themselves seven points in arrears when Vaughan pointed a free in the 42nd minute - had come, well, out of the blue.

Crokes will meet Navan O'Mahony's in a fortnight's time after the Meath champions demolished Westmeath's Castledaly on a scoreline of 1-17 to 0-04.

Éire Óg survived having a man sent off and lived to fight another day after hanging to draw 2-04 to 0-10 with Colmcille of Longford at Dr. Cullen Park in Carlow.

The home side led 2-01 to 0-3 at the break but Colmcille emerged the stronger after the break, and were it not for two brilliant late saves from goalkeeper Michael Hennessy, they would have won comfortably.

Rhode 2-09 Portlaoise 1-10: Seventeen-year-old Anton O'Sullivan emerged off the bench to land an inspirational point that guided Rhode to victory over Portlaoise in Tullamore.

With the score at 2-7 to 1-04 in Rhode's favour the visitors suddenly decided to hit the target and turn a procession into a tense finale, but O'Sullivan's late point when extra-time looked a possibility secured the win.

Munster SFC quarter-final

Two first-half goals from Paul Kerrigan proved the difference for Nemo Rangers this afternoon, as they advanced to Munster club SFC with a 2-12 to 0-12 win over Kerins O'Rahilly's at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

The win keeps Nemo's, the most successful club side in the country, on course for a 15th provincial title.

A disappointing afternoon for Jack O'Connor's Kerry champions was compounded by what looked a serious ankle injury to forward Barry John Walsh, who now looks set to miss Sunday's Kerry county final.

Connacht SFC semi-finals

Eastern Harps will meet Corofin in the Connacht SFC final after the two emerged victorious from their semi-finals.

Eastern Harps beat Mayo's Ballaghadereen 0-12 to 0-09 at Markievicz Park, while the Galway side beat Castlerea comfortably by 1-14 to 0-08.

Waterford senior hurling final

Abbeyside 0-09 De La Salle 0-11: In the Waterford SHC final, De La Salle recorded a two point win over Abbeyside in Dungarvan to claim their county title since 1914.

The win denied Abbeyside a first county title in their first final appearance since 1969.
