Wexford arms cache discovered

A large quantity of weapons and ammunition has been found hidden in a ditch close to Wexford town

A large quantity of weapons and ammunition has been found hidden in a ditch close to Wexford town. The discovery was made on remote wasteland at Coolree, three miles from Wexford town following an on-going surveillance operation, according to a Garda spokesman.

The arms cache consisted of three AK47 assault rifles, a sawn-off rifle, a hand gun and a variety of firearm magazines. Gardai also found gun component parts and a substantial quantity of ammunition. Nobody has been arrested in relation to the find which was made at 6.30 p.m. on Sunday.
