Gardaí investigating the death of a woman in Roscommon yesterday have discovered a weapon near where her body was found.
A man is still being questioned this afternoon in connection with the woman's death.
The woman's body was discovered at a house on Lanesboro Street in Roscommon town shortly after 7pm. She had received several stab wounds.
She is believed to have been in her late 20s. It is understood she was Brazilian and that she had known the man who was arrested.
The man, who is in his 30s, was arrested shortly after the incident and is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Roscommon Garda station.
