An attempt by Derry City Council to have one of Northern Ireland's most famous Troubles-related structures designated as an historic monument has received a setback. The North's Environment and Heritage Service has informed the council that the Free Derry Corner structure in the Bogside does not meet the statutory criteria to become a historic monument.
