Arsenal skipper Patrick Vieira looks set to pledge his long-term future to the Gunners, and team-mate Thierry Henry has agreed an endorsement deal with Nike.

Vieira, who has been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Manchester United in the past, has given a clear indication he wants to stay at Arsenal.

He is quoted on the Gunners' website as saying: "I have entered negotiations to extend my contract, which expires in 2004. I am taking part in talks to find a common ground and I cannot see any reason why I shouldn't stay".

Vieira’s Arsenal and France team-mate Henry has clinched a £9 million sterling contract with Nike, his agent confirmed. Henry, who already has eight goals to his name this season, has signed a five-year deal.

Jerome Anderson, of agents Sport Entertainment & Media, claimed yesterday the 25-year-old was now "the most complete player on the planet" and ideal for Nike.
