Union suspends action at OSI

IMPACT has suspended its campaign of industrial action at Ordnance Survey Ireland

IMPACT has suspended its campaign of industrial action at Ordnance Survey Ireland. This follows a decision by OSI management to reinstate four workers accused of financial and accountancy irregularities.

The four were cleared of any wrongdoing by the Dublin Circuit Court. They are returning on full pay, pending a decision by the Minister for Finance, Mr McCreevy, on an OSI recommendation that their salaries be reduced by up to £60 a week, or six increments. IMPACT's assistant general secretary, Mr Peter Nolan, said yesterday that the union would fight any decision to penalise staff in this way.

IMPACT members had been on a work-to-rule and were planning to escalate the action.
