Two remanded over St Patrick's Day assaults

TWO MEN charged with assaulting a number of people in Tipperary town on St Patrick’s Day have been remanded in custody.

TWO MEN charged with assaulting a number of people in Tipperary town on St Patrick’s Day have been remanded in custody.

Ned Delaney (21) of Carrowclough, Co Tipperary, and Patrick O’Keeffe of St Ailbe’s Drive, Tipperary, appeared before Tipperary District Court yesterday.

Mr Delaney is charged with three counts of assault causing harm and two counts of assault on Main Street and Kickham Place in the town on March 17th.

He is also accused of three breaches of the Public Order Act in the town on the same date.

Mr O’Keeffe is charged with assault and with assault causing harm on Main Street in the town on St Patrick’s Day.

Insp Kevin Bowen of Clonmel Garda Station told Judge David Anderson that a file is being prepared for the DPP in relation to the charges of assault causing harm against both men.

Judge Anderson remanded Mr Delaney and Mr O’Keeffe in custody on consent to appear at the District Court on April 22nd.
