The road death toll crept higher today as crashes on the country's roads claimed two more lives.
One man was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle crash on the N69 at Kildimo in Limerick at about6pm today.
The 23-year-old victim was a passenger in one of the cars. The driver of the car was uninjured, but a second male passenger sustained injured. The driver of the second car also escaped injury.
The road is currently closed pending an investigation.
Seperately, gardaí in Co Mayo are investigating a road traffic crash in which a woman in her 50s was killed.
The three-vehicle crash took place shortly after 6.30pm on the N5 at Bohola.
The victim, who was the driver of one of the cars, was killed when her car collided with one of the other vehicles.
Two people were also injured in the crash, but their injuries are not described as life threatening.
The road is currently closed pending a forensic investigation and diversions are in place.
