Two convicted of assault

Alan Wallace (32), of Parnell Square West, Dublin, was remanded for a probation report after he was convicted of punching Mr Glen Fulham at Shooters Bar, Parnell Street, on April 21st, 1999. Mr Fulham required three stitches in his face as a result of the incident.

Wallace denied the charge and claimed Mr Fulham must have fallen after he left the bar in a drunken state. Wallace has previous convictions for offences against the person, possession of weapons and perjury.

In a separate case, James Kavanagh (26), Farrenboley Park, Dundrum, was given a 12-month suspended sentence after he admitted assaulting Mr Stephen Lonergan at a student disco in the Harcourt Hotel on December 3rd, 1997. Me Lonergan needed 10 stitches as a result of the assault.
