Ankara - Turkey's leading human rights activist, Mr Akin Birdal, has resigned from the Turkish Human Rights Association (IHD) nearly two weeks after he was jailed on charges of sedition, the IHD said yesterday. Mr Birdal's resignation was required under Turkish law.
