Failte Ireland, the national tourism development authority, and Tourism Ireland hosts Meitheal 2007, Ireland's largest tourist fair, at the RDS today.

As part of this event in Dublin, more than 800 members of the Irish and overseas tourism industry will attend a medieval banquet gala evening in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham tonight featuring Aoife and Strongbow and other medieval characters.

The event comes as the NBC Today Show, the top rated morning show in the US, revealed it is filming the island of Ireland as one of five countries to broadcast its Where in the World is Matt Laurer programme this week.

With an average seven million viewers daily, the entire two hour programme will focus on Ireland. Recording took place in Galway yesterday, at an estimated advertising value of 40 million dollars.

The programme feature is a huge coup for Tourism Ireland, who worked with producers for several months to copperfasten the details, beating off stiff competition from several top destinations around the world.
