FESTIVALS: THE TENTH Terryglass Arts Festival starts tonight and concludes with music and entertainment on Sunday afternoon in the village on the shores of Lough Derg, Co Tipperary.

The festival offers a range of entertainment, with 60 performers participating in 50 events over five days.

They include comedy, theatre, a huge range of workshops, fireworks, a light show, exhibitions, floral displays, puppets and clowns and dance. A "mystery guest" is expected to delight the audiences in the small village for the remainder of this week, culminating in a musical Sunday afternoon with the Café Orchestra.

Tonight, the festival will feature an appropriate contemporary dance piece by Fluxusdance, with a Gaelic games theme and a commentary by Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh. Topping the bill this year are Phil Coulter and Ardal O'Hanlon. O'Hanlon performs tomorrow night in the town's main hall and Phil Coulter is on Friday night.

The Saturday night Fireworks on the Quay are a regular feature of the Terryglass Festival, and this year include a light show on the water by Melimage.

There are also exhibitions, competitions and a classical music lunchtime concert on Saturday.
