Teen charged with attempted rape of pensioner

A teenager appeared in court today accused of trying to rape an 80-year-old woman in her home.

A teenager appeared in court today accused of trying to rape an 80-year-old woman in her home.

Mr Steven Paul Walsh (19) was charged at Belfast Magistrates' Court with attacking the pensioner at a house in East Belfast on December 27th.

Mr Walsh, of no fixed address, was also accused of entering the victim's home as a trespasser with intent to rape.

Wearing a denim jacket and T-shirt, he shook his head as the alleged offences were read out.

A detective constable told the court Mr Walsh had made no reply when charged.

The accused was remanded in custody to appear again via videolink on January 28th.
