Plans to create 800 jobs in Cavan town have been put off by the American technology company Teradyne.

The investment was announced almost a year ago, but today Teradyne said the move had been put on hold, apparently because of the difficulties currently confronting the hi-tech sector internationally.

Teradyne, a major supplier to the telecoms industry, said their operations in Dublin, where there is a workforce of 160, would not be affected.
