Mr Brendan Ryan (Lab) demanded to know who was paying the cost of the protracted efforts by Trinity College to have itself treated as a special case in relation to university legislation. Were taxpayers having to foot the bill, he wondered.

Mr Ryan was referring to the Private Members' Bill to change the charter of Trinity to provide for a ministerial representative on the Trinity board in conformity with the Universities Act of 1997.
