Talks between the ESB and its group of unions will resume this morning in attempts to avert a strike which could lead to power cuts next week.

SIPTU and the white collar ESB Officers' Association (ESBOA) have issued strike notice for next Monday, in pursuit of a 30 per cent pay claim. After talks were adjourned yesterday a SIPTU branch secretary, Mr Tony Dunne, said negotiations were at a difficult stage.
