Thomas Crosbie Holdings, publishers of the Cork-based Examiner group of newspapers, have bought Ireland's Sunday Business Postpaper for £6.1 million (euro 10 million).
The purchase from Britain's Trinity Mirror will be confirmed in a statement to the stock exchange tomorrow.
The Examiner group has 12 newspaper titles on both sides of the border, including the Irish Examinerdaily, the Cork-based Evening Echo, the Newry Democrat, the Waterford Newsand Star, the Sligo Weekender, the Western People, the Nationalistand Leinster Timesand the Kildare Nationalist.
The company also has radio interests, and tonight's move signalled their sixth acquisition in two years.
The Sunday Business Posthas a readership of 160,000.
