A suicide bomber detonated his car beside a US patrol in southwest Baghdad today, killing two American soldiers and wounding two others.
In a statement the US military said the incident was under investigation.
Earlier today, the military announced that a US Marine was killed in action yesterday in Iraq's Anbar province.
Since the US-led invasion two years ago, at least 1,523 US military and Pentagon personnel have lost their lives in Iraq.
