London - Emergency legislation may yet be sought to stop known British soccer thugs from travelling to the Euro 2000 championships, the British Home Secretary, Mr Jack Straw has said. He confirmed the government was still looking at ways of stripping hooligans of their passports, not long after another Home Office minister warned there was not enough time to pass the necessary laws.
The move could mean even those fans not subject to international banning orders being stopped from travelling to the tournament, which begins in Belgium and the Netherlands on June 10th. The FA, which has urged action on thuggery from the government, welcomed his comments.
