The PSNI have set up a special team to tackle crime in north Belfast.

Forty officers will be involved in the Operational Support Unit to deal with car crime, drugs and burglary.

Chief Superintendent Mike Little said: "Setting up this unit demonstrates our commitment to making sure that north Belfast is safer.

"My officers and I are dedicated to tackling crime and the fear of crime in this area."

He added: "I would encourage all those individuals or groups representing local communities to engage with police in making this area a safer place to live."

Parts of north Belfast have been blighted by loyalist paramilitary in-fighting - mainly related to drug dealing.
