The Spanish consulate in Switzerland's capital Berne was seized today by unidentified individuals who took several hostages.
Police said officers sealed off part of the Kirchenfeld district after they were alerted shortly after 8.00 a.m.
The Spanish Foreign Ministry said the situation was now over.
Spanish state radio said three hostage-takers had left the consulate and that all members of the staff were safe.
